Best Man’s Speech for my “Little” Brother

So on the 18th June 2022 my little brother, Daniel, married Helena: a wonderful woman who he met at Exeter University. I was asked to be best man, which was a great honour. Unfortunately Covid intervened and both Joe and I tested positive for it the day before it was due to take place. Thankfully, through the power of modern technology I was able to give the speech, albeit as a disembodied voice. And here it is!

On J.K. Rowling

I have today removed from my website my essay “On the Use of Characteronyms in the Works of J.K. Rowling.”

I couldn’t condone any of her recent words regarding the lives of trans people and it has become increasingly uncomfortable for me to hear her double down on the issue and use what I see as increasingly weaselly-worded language to justify her stance.

Quartet Recording

Last night was the night of recording for the four stories that will make up the next What Noise Productions Quartet CD, entitled “Hero”. As the writers also have to direct, this means last night was my directorial debut too. I was terrified at first, but really loved it by the end.
